Ethnic Clash between Yoruba and Hausa traders have been reported in the vicinity of Sasa market in Ibadan, Feb. 12.
The incident was due to an alteration between a hausa man and a yoruba woman, on Thursday when the hausa man overturned tomatoes in front of the woman's shop and the woman told him to pack up the tomatoes but he packed only the good ones and left the bad ones this irked the woman and an alteration erupted between them. Due to this argument a shoemaker Sakirundeen Adeola intervened only to be slapped by the hausa man. The man fell and started foaming. He was rushed to the hospital only to be reported dead this morning.
According to the report gotten from one of the residual of Shasha, he said Sakirundeen intervened when he noticed the heated argument between the woman and the hausa man. He told the man to pack all the littered tomatoes, the hausa man gave him a deadly blow, he fell and hit his head on a stone.
This got the friends and family members of the deceased angry and they gathered to retaliate.
However, security paramilitary forces have been deployed to the affected area.
No casualties or fatalities have been reported at the clash as Security personnel are at the apex of returning peace to the traders.
