Polyibadan Mass Communication Department Holds Inter-level Oratory Contest

The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Mass Communication department holds inter- level Oratorical contest. The students and the lecturers of the department were filled with hope and joy at the early hour of Wednesday, during the maiden edition of its inter- level oratorical contest and symposium for students across all levels of the department.

The oratorical contest which surfaced under the led Ayanboade administration themed: 'ACCOMODATING THE NEW MEDIA INTO ETHICAL JOURNALISTIC PRACTICE: THE LACUNA, NECESSITIES AND EFFECTS'. Students from different levels of the department participated in presenting their speeches regarding the topic of discussion which was 'THE NEW MEDIA: A missed opportunity for national integration in Nigeria. It was a lively event for both contestants, organizers and well-wishers at the symposium. The contestants showed their courage, intellectual ability and confidence in unraveling series of solutions accosted to the importance of the new media in the society.

Mr. Bisi oladele, an editor from The Nations daily newspaper and the guest speaker encouraged the students to effectively make use of the new media as a key tools in discharging their duties as an upcoming media practitioners. Mr Bisi laud the efforts of all contestants, the organizer and the Host of the event. 

Meanwhile, the head of department, Mr. Najeem Adunola was dazed seeing his students exhibiting their talents, he then made a donation of #50,000 to be shared between all contestants for making him proud of representing the department. 

Other lecturers from the department of Mass Communication also graced the occasion, with the likes of Mr Taiwo Olaniran, Mr Olusoji Olatunji, Mr Olawale Olagoke amongst others.
