It was a horizon-widening atmosphere in the academic sector of the world, as academicians from all walks of Africa participated in the richness of the international conference that took place at Assembly Hall, North Campus, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
A cross section of Lecturers and Students of Mass Communication Department, The Polytechnic Ibadan, at the opening ceremony of the 2022 International Conference hosted by the institution's Faculty of Business and Communication Studies on Tuesday 9th, August 2022
The International Conference tagged "Digitalization and E-learning: Engaging The Impact Of Emerging Technologies On Africa's Development", which ran from 9th to 12th of August, 2022, witnessed several paper presentations from several institutions across the continent.
Presenting papers that revolved around the theme at the conference were; Prof. Longe, Alhaji Adunola, and Mr. Adedokun, alongside other professors, doctors, and lecturers from different institutions across the continent.
In his address, the Rector of the host institution, Prof. Kazeem Adebiyi lauded the Faculty officials for putting such a brilliant program together, for the benefit of both lecturer and students.
Prof. Kazeem applauded the students for making themselves available for such a program. He, however, enjoined paper presenters whose works are being critiqued not to feel dejected but to feel motivated in making their papers better.
In his remarks, Dr. Muyiwa Ojo, the moderator and lead critic, eulogized the richness of the papers presented on each day of the conference.
According to him, the majority of the papers were beautifully written on recent issues and this makes them more relevant as solutions to current problems facing the media world.
While speaking with ASCOM Press, some participants of the conference expressed their thoughts about the conference.
Kayode Adebiyi, a participant, expressed how eager he is to correct and polish his paper for publication. He added that the conference has also made him understand how good his works are.
Mariam Garuba, a participant, also narrated how she found a basic understanding of media by just attending the conference. In her words, Mariam was a non-media person who is now challenged to venture into media after being shown the nitty gritty of media.
According to her, she had presented her paper on Monday, but she felt she could tap from the ocean of knowledge emanating from the conference. She however enjoined her fellow presenter to see CRITIQUE as "collabo", which exists in the music industry to enrich a particular track.
However, students from across the continent also benefited from the conference. While some participants were presenters, others participated as the audience, drawing from their well of knowledge.
