The Association of Students' Communicators (ASCOM), in collaboration with the Muslim Communicators Forum (MCF) at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, held its first Ramadan Lecture and distributed palliatives to 300 students.
The Ramadan Lecture was organized to remind Muslim students of the importance of fasting and praying during this holy month.
The keynote speaker, Folahanmi Sadam Gbolahan, the former Coordinator of MCF, urged Muslim students to apply wisdom in their communication with fellow students on campus.
In his welcome address, the current Coordinator of MCF, Busari Usman, welcomed the guests and students, highlighting the milestones achieved in making this lecture a historic event for MCF and ASCOM.
Guest lecturer Ajisafe Faruk (APOTI ORO) discussed the significance of communication in conveying Allah’s will and message. He emphasized that communication is a vital tool recommended by the Prophet Muhammad for sharing the essence of his teachings. "We are not fighters, as some may label us; we are responsible," he added.
Mr. Olawale Olagoke, a lecturer in the Mass Communication Department, praised the organizers’ efforts and encouraged the students to communicate in ways that promote peace on campus. He also urged them to avoid behaviors that could jeopardize their futures.
The President of ASCOM, Comrade Ajayi Sunday Michael, also addressed the students, urging them to keep the holy month sacred and to be mindful of their communication with others.
The program featured various Quran recitations by individuals demonstrating their knowledge of the Quran and fulfilling the Prophet's commands.

The event was attended by lecturers, students from various associations on campus, representatives from the Students Union Government, ASCOM Executives, MSSN representatives, and other distinguished guests.
