Echoes of a Bleeding Giant

Faithia Bello

What exactly is happening in our country?

A nation where we no longer feel safe.

A country where our President moves around freely while the people he serves live in constant fear.

Our elders are crying for safety.
The youth are crying for safety.
Even the children are crying for safety.

How can the older ones protect the younger ones when they themselves are helpless?

Meanwhile, the children of politicians are abroad, far away from the insecurity and suffering we face daily.

All they know is to take, to steal, and to look away from the pain of the masses.

Nigeria has been battling corruption from ages.

Corruption has become cankerworm, it has become endemic and intractable in our society.

Is it too much to ask that this government at least protects its citizens from bandits

Our lives are no longer safe.

Where is EFCC ? Where is ICPC ?

This hypocritical fight against corruption is having adverse effect on the lives of people.

Lives are of no value again; living like insects, like cockroaches to be crushed at any time.

Nigeria, giant of Africa !!!

Mr President, Your Excellency, Hello sir ! Fold not your arms and watch innocent Nigeria abducted and killed everyday.

Your Excellency, hearken to our voice.Tighten national security.

And to all members of National Assembly.Hearken to our yearning.Let Nigeria be a safe place for all.The multitude that are being killed by bandits and terrorists are unimaginable.Hearken to your responsibilities

Should we all perish before you realize the weight of your negligence?

After we are all gone, who will you govern?

We need help.
We need protection.
Nigeria is no longer safe.
Nigeria is bleeding.
