The ASCOM President Cup tournament opened up with ND 1 and ND 2 facing off.
The ASCOM President opened the event, welcoming players and spoke on the aspect of sportsmanship and unity. He strongly advised players not to be rough on the field even if they lose the ball or the match.
“Please don’t follow the saying that goes if you lose the ball, don’t lose the legs”
Was his closing remark after he kicked the ball into the net signifying the official opening of the match.
Action kicked off with both teams showing early intent, but it was the ND2 students who quickly took control of the game through resilience and impressive coordination.
Within just five minutes of play, the ND2 side broke the deadlock to take a 1–0 lead, setting the tempo for the rest of the encounter. Their dominance continued as they found the back of the net again moments later, extending their advantage to 2–0 and putting the opposing team under pressure.
The second half began with the ND2 students restarting play, and they wasted no time setting more power on the field. Barely two minutes into the half, the seniors struck again, increasing the scoreline to a comfortable 3–0 lead.
Despite their strong performance, the ND2 side recorded one disciplinary moment during the game, receiving a yellow card. Nevertheless, their coordination, composure, and attacking strength remained evident as they maintained control of the match.
Though the freshers did their best to get close to the net but all their efforts were abortive and the seniors showed them that indeed they are boss in the field.
