In a heartwarming display of kindness and compassion, executives of the Association of Student Communicators (ASCOM) paid a courtesy visit to the Oluyole Cheshire Home, Sango Eleyele, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday, January 16, 2026.
The ASCOM delegation, led by its President, Ohamuo Frank, was warmly received by a staff member of the home, Miss Victoria Oyeleye, who ushered them into a hall where residents comprising differently abled individuals of various ages were eagerly awaiting their arrival. The atmosphere instantly came alive as the residents welcomed the visitors with a joyful song, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience.
During an interactive session, Frank and other executives introduced themselves and spoke passionately about mass communication and its power to inform, inspire, and uplift society. The residents actively participated as questions were posed, responding with enthusiasm and curiosity that reflected their eagerness to learn and engage.
The visit soon turned into a lively and entertaining session, as the ASCOM team engaged the residents in activities such as singing rhymes, identifying colours and shapes, and other interactive exercises. The residents’ active participation and excitement highlighted their resilience, intelligence, and love for learning.
In his address, Frank encouraged the residents to remain focused on their education and personal development, stressing the importance of self-care, discipline, and peaceful coexistence. He also presented a welfare package to the home, which included essential items such as shoes, slippers, soap, torches, and food items, a gesture that was met with visible joy and appreciation.
Frank further expressed gratitude to the staff of the Oluyole Cheshire Home for their dedication and tireless efforts in caring for the residents. He concluded the visit with a heartfelt prayer, wishing the residents continued strength, happiness, and hope. He also assured them that the visit marked the beginning of a lasting relationship, as ASCOM plans to return in the future.
