Ascom Press
In a renewed commitment to promoting responsible journalism, strengthening critical reporting skills, and fostering collaboration, the Association of Student Communicators (ASCOM) Press, in partnership with the Press and PR Club of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, is set to host a collaborative training workshop aimed at enhancing journalistic standards and combating misinformation among students and emerging media professionals.
The workshop, themed “The Role of Investigative Journalism in Curbing Misinformation,” is scheduled to hold virtually on May 3, 2026. It is designed to equip participants with practical investigative reporting skills while addressing the growing challenge of false and misleading information in today’s media landscape. The session will highlight the importance of fact-checking, ethical reporting, and the critical role investigative journalism plays in maintaining public trust. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn from experienced facilitators and engage with peers who share a passion for credible and impactful journalism.
The event is open to members of the public, students of The Polytechnic Ibadan, students of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, and all members of the Association of Student Communicators.
This collaboration represents a significant step toward strengthening ties among student-led media organizations in Nigeria and reinforces the need to equip the next generation of journalists with the knowledge and tools required to navigate an increasingly complex information environment.
