Students of the Higher National Diploma (HND I) Mass Communication Department, The Polytechnic, Ibadan showcased their broadcasting skills during a live television production focused on the revitalization of polytechnic education in Nigeria.
The event held at the 350 Lecture Capacity Hall, was organized as part of the Television Production Techniques (JMS 324) course and centered on the theme, "Revitalizing Polytechnic Education in Nigeria: Institutional Reforms, Development Imperatives, and the Emerging Trajectory of The Polytechnic, Ibadan."
In his address, the Lecturer-in-Charge, Mr. Olawale Olagoke, commended the students for their dedication and impressive performance. He expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the production and noted that the students had done exceptionally well.
The live television production featured a variety of engaging segments, including live musical performances, drama presentations, newscasting, chanting, interviews, and a talk show. The audience was entertained throughout the event as students demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and technical competence in television production.
The exercise provided participants with an opportunity to put into practice the knowledge acquired in the classroom while experiencing the realities of a professional broadcast environment.
The programme attracted notable personalities within the institution, including the Head of Department, Dr. Olusoji Olatunji, the Dean of Student Affairs, the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Communication Studies, and other lecturers who came to witness the student's practical demonstration of television broadcasting.
The event concluded with applause from guests and lecturers, who praised the students for delivering an educational, informative, and entertaining live television broadcast.
