Mass Comm CCF Holds Welcoming Service; Adunola Pleads For Absence

 

A cross-section of Mass Communication students at the 2022 CCF Freshers' Welcoming Service held yesterday at the Lord's Chapel, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

To enlighten and draw students to the teachings of God while pursuing their academics, the Christ Communicators Fellowship of the department of Mass Communication has held a freshers’ welcoming service for the 2022/2023 academic session.

The welcoming service, tagged, ‘Earnest Expectations of the Sons of God’, had Senior lecturers and student leaders in attendance and took place at the Lord's Chapel, opposite CEC blocks, middle belt of the institution, yesterday.

Mass Communication lecturers, Mr. Olwale Olagoke and Revd. Taiwo Olaniran at the CCF Freshers Welcoming Service held yesterday at the Lord's Chapel, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

At the event, the Senior lecturer who doubles as the patron of the fellowship, Revd. Taiwo Olaniran encouraged the students to avoid derailment in their academics and be prayerful.

“Make sure you focus on your academic, which is your primary assignment in this institution, and be prayerful. Though there is nothing God cannot do but you need to work hard”, he said

In his words of encouragement, another senior lecturer, Mr. Olawale Olagoke, buttressed Olaniran’s speech and charged the Christian communicators to use their youthful energy to serve and worship the almighty God.

While addressing the Ascom Press correspondent at the department, the Head of the department, Mr. Najeemdeen Adunola, apologized for his absence at the occasion and faulted administrative duties and institution affairs. He said,” I was duly informed about the event, and I have prepared for it. On my way to the venue, I was hijacked by a call from the management regarding student issues and other things which demands urgent attention.”

Adunola advised the students always to read the Holy Books and make use of its teachings in their sojourn on campus.

The president of the fellowship and convener, Pastor Victor Eyeowa, urged his colleagues to seek and serve God with all their hearts, which he termed the only pathway to success.

Eyeowa stated that the event was organized to officially welcome the newly admitted ND1 and HND1 into the school premises and at the departmental fellowship.

“Their turnout was so massive. I never knew they could be that much today. The church was filled up, even at the beginning of the program, but in all, we thank God, and it is a message on the part of God that he is with us”, he added.

The event, coordinated by the General Secretary of the fellowship, Miss Esther Adeoye, was fun-filled and receptive and had a wonderful performance from the Choir and drama ministry.

Olabode Simon led the ushers and ensured that all the attendees were well seated and arranged.
