The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has confirmed Reiz 101.9FM as operating frequency for The Polytechnic, Ibadan radio.
The great achievement and milestone success was disclosed by the management of the institution earlier yesterday.
Speaking on behalf of the management, the Rector of the institution, Prof. Kazeem Adekunle Adebiyi, expressed the eagerness of his team to uplift the institution’s image and also serve as a platform for students to express their creativity, share ideas, and engage with their peers.
Adebiyi thanked the governor of Oyo State, Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, for his giant strides in making the radio station come into reality in this austere time.
The Rector added that the radio station will be used to uplift various programmes of the institution, foster a sense of community among students by connecting them through shared interests, music preferences, and discussions.
However the radio is said to uplift the policies of the state government through her seasoned broadcasting.
Reacting to the success of the radio station, the Secretary of the institution’s Radio Facilitation Committee, Dr Olusoji Olatunji, said that both the operating license and the subsequent release of the operating frequency were the swift response of state governor which saw to the birth of Poly Ibadan Radio Station.
Olatunji while speaking extended the committee’s extreme gratitude to the state government for its supports towards the birth, structure and development of the radio.
“The Polytechnic Ibadan radio station, also known as REIZ FM 101.9, will be used for the propagation of various academic programs in the institution and will be anchored by students of the Department of Mass Communication to promote laudable programs embarked upon by the state government in general.”he said.
In a media chat with ASCOM PRESS , a Mass Communication Student at the event noted that the radio is a huge success and the department as however longed for the establishment of the Radio.
