Association of Students' Communicators(ASCOM) on Thursday held her 3rd annual oratorical contest.
The event which featured symposium and other educative activities.
A 3 man panel section was done discussing “Should AI Programs be approved for academic Writing? Its Originality , Genuineness and Uncredited Status”
This event commenced with opening speech From the Association President , Comrade Adewale Gbolahan, speaking on the need to embrace public speaking and also the moderation on the usage Artificial Intelligence.
The theme speaker , Mr Olubukola represented by Mr Olawale Olagoke , explained extensively about the theme of the day.
He also stated how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be used without affecting students creativity dishing out the Merit and Demerits of AI on academic writing.
The Panel Section which contest of Past 3 Presidents of the association, Comr Oluwapelumi , Comr Kehinde Ayanboade , Comr Azeez Kehinde and Sen Lanre Akintunde as the moderator.
The panel gave realistic and feasible ideas as to which Artificial Intelligence can be used for the betterment of Academic writing.
This contest began proper with the battle of words across all levels, all levels were represented.
Isola Titilola , Kadelu oluwole representing HND 2 , Olowoyo Taiwo , Adewuyi Sofiat representing HND 1 , Fehintola Esther , Uzoigwe Susan representing ND 2 and Anwoju Emmanuel, Clemet Lovis representing ND1.
All levels delivered their speech on the topic SHOULD AI PROGRAM BE APPROVED FOR ACADEMIC WRITING? IT'S ORIGINALITY, GENUINENESS AND UNACCREDITED STATUS.
After all speakers had spoken the cheif Judge,MRS BOLATITO JOSEPH before announcing the winners explained that AI requires your Intelligence quotient.
When using AI, "Make sure you put your creativity in action, your creativity can never be seconded to Machines". She added.
HND 2 were crowned winners , ND 1 First Runner up , HND 1 Second Runner Up while ND 2 came 4th.
The event was graced by lecturers, SUG Representatives, departmental executives and other dignitaries, Awards were also to given to dignitaries and other invited guests.
