Association of Student Communicators, ASCOM, The Polytechnic, Ibadan is set to hold her 3rd Annual oratorical contest.
ASCOM, which is the Student Body of the Department of Mass Communication made this development known in a information made available to newsmen in preparation for the programme tagged "Should AI Programs Be Approved For Academic Writings? Its Originality, Genuiness, and Unaccredited Status"slated to hold on Thursday, 6th of June, 2024 at the 350 capacity hall, behind the Conference centre of the institution.
The Departmental President, Comr. Adewale Gbolahan noted that the program is one of his capacity building agenda to rejig and inspire students in building their public speaking skills.
The program will be hosted by the head of Department, Dr. Olusoji Olatunji, and the Staff Adviser, Dr. Najeemdeen Adunola.
Adewale noted that the event will have Mr. Bukola Adio as the theme speaker, while three former Presidents of the department including Quadri Adejumo (2018), Kehinde Ayanboade (2022) and Kehinde Azeez (2023) will be speaking and discussants on how artificial intelligence can better be equip in easing academic writing, considering it's side effects and implications.
Mrs. Bolatito Joseph, A veteran Broadcast icon in Oyo State will be charing the Jury Committee for the event.
He added that Students from all levels will jostle for a prize has they will have the stage to project their input about the topic of discussion.
Recall that the Ascom Annual Oratorical Contest started during the tenure of Kehinde Ayanboade as the President of Mass Communication department in the year 2022. The program which has become a tradition in the institution has however assisted student's of the department build their speaking prowess.
