The Muslim Communicators Forum (MCF) of the Department of Mass Communication held its orientation for newly admitted students on Wednesday, January 29, 2025,anchored by Ahmod Mustopher( Almusty)
The program, organized under the umbrella of the Association of Students Communicators (ASCOM), featured former department president Sheik Hadi Afeez Ishola, who spoke on the theme Information Dissemination as a Germane Tool for Da'wah Proclamation
In his address, Sheik Ishola explained that Dawah is the act of inviting people to Islam. He emphasized the importance of preaching and following God’s teachings to become a true believer. "Let God guide people through you, lead them to Islam, and teach them about religion," he stated. He reiterated that Dawah is a commitment for all Muslims.
During the welcome address, the Coordinator of MCF, Busari Usman, warmly welcomed the new students and encouraged MCF members to serve as good ambassadors of Islam on campus and in the media industry.
Dr. Najeemdeen Adunola, a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, shared his thoughts on the theme and expressed his concerns regarding the lack of participation from some Muslim students in MCF activities.
ASCOM President Comrade Ajayi Sunday Michael addressed the issue of indecency among some Muslim students, even those wearing hijabs. He highlighted that this behavior does not reflect the values of modesty and decency for which Muslims are known, urging them to improve.
A student from the Mass Communication program shared insights on the power of content creation in the media industry, providing guidelines on how to create effective content.
The event also included a session on CGPA calculation, which was expertly handled by Jimoh Segun, a student in the HND2 program.
The educational event featured various Quran recitations performed by MCF members.
Among the attendees was Mr. Olagoke Olawale, who offered words of advice and encouragement to the students. Additionally, Sheik Ibrahim Salako, Amir of the Muslim Students Association of Nigeria (MSSN), The Polytechnic, Ibadan Chapter, through his representative, discussed the significance of thorough knowledge and the impact of fake news on information dissemination.
The event was attended by Dr Akeem Akinyemi, who also share his view on the theme of the occasion. Current and past executives of the MCF were in attendance, department executives, and other distinguished guests.
