It was a day of warm smiles, heartfelt words, and fond memories as the Department of Local Government and Development Studies held a send-off ceremony for Miss Akinlolu Christianah Motunrayo, a corps member who has spent the past year serving in the department. The event, which took place on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Head of Department’s Office, was organized to appreciate her dedication and impact throughout her service year.
It was a day of warm smiles, heartfelt words, and fond memories as the Department of Local Government and Development Studies held a send-off ceremony for Miss Akinlolu Christianah Motunrayo, a corps member who has spent the past year serving in the department. The event, which took place on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Head of Department’s Office, was organized to appreciate her dedication and impact throughout her service year.
Miss Akinlolu, who joined the department in 2024 as part of her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) assignment, quickly became a beloved member of the academic community. Her dedication, warmth, and commitment to excellence didn’t go unnoticed, and these qualities were celebrated in the presence of respected figures like the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business and Communication Studies (FBCS), Mr. Adedokun Femi, and the department’s pioneer Head, Dr. Adesiyan Emmanuel. Also present were the current Head of Department and the Bar. Oladepo Kazeem, who spoke glowingly of her character and contributions.
The gathering was rich with support from her colleagues in the academic circle. Staff members including Mr. Azeez Lukman, Dr. Adepoju Banji, Mr. Arulogun Caleb, Mr. Amusat Kabiru, Mr. Sanni Olukayode, Mr. Ajao Sherif, and Mrs. Adeleke Bushrooh, were all in attendance. Many shared kind words and personal moments, highlighting her positive influence within the department.
Non-academic staff also came out in numbers to bid her farewell, a reflection of the strong interpersonal relationships she built across the board. One of the most touching moments came from Mrs. Moji Jaiyeoba, who spoke passionately about Christianah’s respectful nature, hard work, and her ability to brighten the office atmosphere with her presence.
As the ceremony drew to a close, it was clear that Miss Akinlolu had left a lasting impression. Prayers were offered for her journey ahead, and the room echoed with best wishes and words of encouragement. It was more than just a farewell—it was a celebration of a young woman who gave her best and became family in the process.
