Like the saying goes, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” Education is the training of the mind, while fitness is the training of the body, and true excellence requires both.

In a bid to encourage physical fitness, teamwork, and mental wellness among students, the Association of Student Communicators (ASCOM), The Polytechnic Ibadan, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, organized a departmental fitness exercise tagged “ASCOM FIT.”

The event, spearheaded by the Department’s Sports Director, witnessed an impressive turnout of students who gathered at the North Main Pitch to engage in various fitness activities aimed at revitalizing both mind and body.

Participants began the day with a jogging session from the North Main Pitch to the 1000-Capacity Hall and back. Upon their return, they engaged in a lively aerobics and fitness session led by the Sports Director, featuring stretches, rhythmic movements, and cardio routines designed to boost stamina, relieve stress, and promote overall wellness.

The atmosphere was vibrant and filled with energy as members interacted freely, motivated one another, and showcased the spirit of unity and camaraderie that ASCOM is known for.

Present at the event to show their support were several departmental executives, including the President of the Association, the General Secretary, and the Chief Librarian II.

The ASCOM FIT program is scheduled to hold every Saturday, standing as a testament to the department’s ongoing commitment to building a vibrant, health-conscious student community that thrives both in body and in mind.
