The National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS), Osun Chapter, on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, concluded its final congress of the semester at The Polytechnic, Ibadan campus.
The congress, which attracted a vibrant turnout of students, marked the association’s end of year gathering and served as a platform to reaffirm shared values of integrity, service, and responsible leadership among members.
In his address, the NAOSS President urged students to adhere strictly to the institution’s holiday schedule. He also reminded hostel residents to ensure they returned to their hostels on or before 7 pm, stressing the importance of discipline and compliance with school regulations.
A major highlight of the congress was the panel session on leadership and personal development. The first speaker, Comrade Jimoh Toheeb Morenikeji, spoke on patriotism, drawing from the Omoluabi ethos. Quoting the saying, “A good name is better than silver and gold,” he cautioned against sacrificing integrity for personal gain. He encouraged students to build meaningful connections, engage positively with peers, and focus on skill acquisition and self development as pathways to long term success.
The second speaker, Miss Ogedengbe Oluwafunto Opeyemi, identified competence, courage, character, and skills as the core pillars of effective leadership. She explained that competence entails mastery of one’s field and academic excellence, while courage involves stepping beyond comfort zones and confidently expressing ideas. According to her, character reflects integrity and trustworthiness, and skills include practical abilities such as communication, negotiation, and project management. She further emphasized honesty and discipline as essential leadership training principles, noting that transparency builds credibility, while discipline ensures consistency through respect for rules, schedules, and deadlines.
The congress also featured a birthday presentation to Miss Ogedengbe, alongside various giveaways. A “Face of the Week” competition was held between the Adewale and Adeleke families, with the Adewale family emerging as the winner. Both families received gifts in recognition of their participation.
The NAOSS Osun Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to promoting integrity, patriotism, leadership development, and academic excellence among its members as the semester draws to a close.
