In a vibrant celebration of culture and identity, the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) 2025/2026 Academic Session, Era of Ascension. The Polytechnic Ibadan chapter, hosted a special congress filled with colour, creativity, and cultural pride.
Themed “Heritage and Vibes,” the event offered a rich showcase of Ogun State’s traditions. Members appeared in elegant traditional attire, while captivating dance performances brought energy and excitement to the gathering, creating an atmosphere that reflected the beauty of the state’s cultural legacy.
One of the major attractions of the day was the “Face of the Week” contest, sponsored by Mr. & Miss NAOSS, represented by Comrade Shodiya Olufemi Tobiloba and Comrade Salmon Hameedat Ololade. Six contestants competed in various rounds of dance and cultural display, with three outstanding participants emerging as winners after an impressive performance.
A significant highlight of the congress was the Adire tie-dye workshop facilitated by Miss Ojuewe Eunice Opeyemi. She guided participants through the step by step process of producing the traditional fabric, introducing them to essential materials such as fabric, rope, dye, and caustic soda. The session provided hands-on experience and deepened participants’ appreciation for the craftsmanship behind the iconic textile.
The congress concluded with closing remarks from the NAOSS President for the 2025/2026 Academic Session, Aare Idowu Adeyinka Kunle, who expressed appreciation to all attendees and used the platform to introduce the association’s next event, scheduled to take place after examinations. His address highlighted the association’s continuous efforts to foster unity, celebrate heritage, and engage students in meaningful cultural activities.
Overall the Congress reaffirms NAOSS’s dedication to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Ogun State among students studying away from home, while fostering unity and pride within the association.
