Students of HND 2 Mass Communication, The Polytechnic Ibadan, popularly known as the 2026 Class of Aura, have paid their last respects to their late colleague, Ajasa Quam, through an all-black procession and candlelight vigil held in his honour.
Ajasa Quam, described by classmates and lecturers as a vibrant, peaceful, and lively student, battled anemia, a medical condition characterized by a deficiency of healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin needed to carry adequate oxygen throughout the body. Despite efforts by his family, friends, coursemates, and well-wishers to support him during his illness, he sadly passed away on May 19, 2026.
To honour his memory and celebrate the impact he made during his time in the department, members of the HND 2 Mass Communication class organized a solemn All-Black Thursday and candlelight procession. The event brought together students, friends, and associates who gathered to reflect on his life, share memories, and offer prayers for the repose of his soul.
Dressed in black attire as a symbol of mourning and solidarity, participants expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a colleague whose friendly disposition and positive attitude had endeared him to many within the department. The candlelight vigil created an atmosphere of reflection as students held candles aloft, observed moments of silence, and paid tribute to the late Quam.
His passing remains a painful loss to the 2026 Class of Aura, the Department of Mass Communication, and the entire Polytechnic Ibadan community. May his soul rest in peace.
