Poly Ibadan Acting Rector to be Substantive Rector - Oyo Deputy Speaker Proposes

The Oyo State Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammed Abiodun Fadeyi at the 39th Convocation Ceremony of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, which took place at the 1000-capacity auditorium, made the statement to make the Acting Rector of the institution, Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi to be the substantive Rector. He also stated that the Acting HODs in some department should be made proper Head of Departments 


The ceremony, which was graced by the presence of dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Dr. Bayo Lawal, and the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, saw the award of diplomas, certificates, and prizes to the 2023/2024 graduands.


In his welcome address, the Acting Rector, Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, commended the graduands for their hard work and dedication, stating that they had demonstrated exceptional academic prowess and character. He also expressed his gratitude to the Oyo State Government, particularly the Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his support and commitment to education.




The ceremony also featured the presentation of endowed prizes to outstanding students, including Shonde Yemisi Idayat, who emerged as the overall best student.


In his speech, the Acting Rector, Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, appealed to the Governor to intervene in the rehabilitation and total reconstruction of major roads and staff quarters within The Polytechnic, Ibadan. He also acknowledged the support of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) and commended the graduands for their achievements. 

Also in attendance were Commissioner for Public Works, Prof. Dahud Sangodoyin; who promised to reconstruct The institution Roads, Prof. Deji Omole, Pro- Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso; Hon. Chief Tunde Tijani ( Double T) Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters

The ceremony came to a close with the presentation of diplomas, certificates, and prizes to the graduands, followed by a recessional procession.
