The Association of Student Communicators (ASCOM), The Polytechnic, Ibadan, through its official media arm, the ASCOM Press Board, has set a standard by organizing “Most Influential Communicators of the Year” Awards, the first of its kind.
A self-sponsored landmark initiative by ASCOM PRESS is designed to recognize and celebrate outstanding student communicators who have demonstrated excellence, creativity, and leadership within the field of communication.
The nomination and voting exercise, which ran from August 13 to August 23, 2025, drew remarkable participation across the department. A total of 54 students were nominated, while over 3,000 votes were recorded, reflecting the enthusiasm and engagement of the student community.
After a transparent and competitive selection process, ten (10) exceptional communicators emerged as winners of the Most Influential Communicators of the Year Awards.

The award presentation ceremony took place during the 2025 Graduating Students’ Dinner Party, held on October 4, 2025.
The event was marked by elegance, excitement, and heartfelt recognition as students, lecturers, and distinguished guests gathered to honor communicators who have made significant contributions to the department and the larger academic community.
In his remarks, ASCOM PRESS Deputy EIC during the award presentations applauded the high level of participation and expressed gratitude to the Association of Student Communicators and the department’s leadership for their unwavering support.
He reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to fostering excellence, professionalism, and positive influence among student communicators.
The success of this maiden edition has set a historic precedent within The Polytechnic, Ibadan, establishing the Most Influential Communicators of the Year Awards as an annual tradition dedicated to recognizing talent, promoting innovation, and rewarding excellence in communication.
