The final match of the HND, ND Freshers and Staylites Championship delivered an exciting display of skill, discipline, and competitive spirit as HND 2 and ND 2 battled for supremacy on the pitch.

The highly anticipated encounter kicked off precisely at 1:00 pm, drawing a large crowd of students and sports enthusiasts who gathered to witness the season’s decisive showdown. From the opening minutes, both teams showed strong determination, with swift passes and coordinated movements setting the tone for an intense contest.

ND 2 suffered an early setback in the 28th minute when one of their key players, Victor, picked up a slight injury after a tough challenge. Despite the disruption, ND 2 quickly regrouped and launched a serious attacking move just five minutes later, putting the HND 2 defense under pressure and keeping the spectators on edge.

The second half opened with immediate pressure as Adeyanju cleared a dangerous ball. HND 2 missed an early goal opportunity. However, the deadlock was finally broken when HND 2’s number 5, Armani, scored in the 62nd minute, giving his team a 0:1 lead. Delima doubled the lead, pushing the scoreline to 0:2 at 77th minute

Jagaban found the net in added time, but the goal was ruled offside at the 95th minute. Moments later, the referee blew the final whistle, sealing HND 2’s well-deserved victory.

The award ceremony was chaired by Dr. Adunola, who was also honored during the event. Several outstanding players received certificates, including Ajagbe Taiwo Hassan, Leader Ade Tunji, and Anifowose Hassan. HND 2’s Isreal Opeyemi was named Best Player of the Match, while Adebayo emerged as the tournament’s highest goal scorer. The best goalkeeper and highest goal scorer were also presented with branded T-shirts as special prizes.

The championship ended on a celebratory note, marking another successful edition of the Fresher and Staylite tournament.
